Let's make that one for two

I have to admit I was a little bit heartbroken when I saw Mrs. Obama's pick for the Inaugural Ball(s). It's akin to the feeling I had when she wore that hideous black and red dress at Obama's acceptance speech after he won the election.

Not that I don't applaud her for her attempt to take a risk, and for seeking to identify with the demographic that was largely responsible for electing her husband... I just wish it would have paid off a little bit better for her. Picking a young, relatively unknown designer (Jason Wu, 26) was a great move in my mind, but also a gamble. Call me crazy, but it just wasn't executed that well, and was not the most flattering to her glorious figure. And I'm sure the fabric was exquisite in person, but it was definitely overworked.

I was so hoping that Mrs. Obama would go for a classic, sweeping, Valentino-esque ball gown with one strap in a modern and punchy color. With her skin, Mrs. Obama could have gone for a beautiful purple color, or even a beautiful turquoise blue.

Because I really like her and think that, for the most part, she has great fashion acumen, I'd give Mrs. Obama an A for effort and a C in execution.

I concur.

Since I have no clue about fashion or anything that it entails, that is all I have to say...so I don't look stupid...

I wasn't a huge fan of her dress, either. Could've been SO much better!
