Summer is coming part three

Category 3: The One-piece

For my third and final installment, I will focus on beautiful, glorious, one-piece swimwear. I think that there is something timeless about this style, coupled with an element of mystique and subtle sexiness that a bikini is devoid of. And obviously, a one-piece (unless you go for a monokini style) can and will provide you with the coverage you need to flatten that tummy, and/or address other areas of your body that you're insecure about.

The main problem I find with a one-piece is finding the correct size for my body. (Because, let's be honest, most suits don't have a small enough chest. I used to sew old bras into my suits to make up for this deficiency.) Most places don't carry suits small enough, and if they do, they tend to be on the expensive side. But I think that if you find a suit you love that is really flattering, it's worth the investment. Some of the best places I have found that sell one-pieces for petites and beyond are JCrew, Urban and Anthro. Here are a few that I wouldn't mind owning:

Jersey Lomellina ruffled tank ($119.00)
{or go for the steal with this suit from Down East Basics}

Kimchi Blue Polkadot Swinsuit ($98)

Majesty Palm Maillot ($178.00)

Cherry Grass Maillot ($258.00)

I think that a one-piece can be just as flirty and as fun to wear as a bikini or a tankini. It can be flattering and sexy, without being skanky (which can be more of a fine line with swimwear that has less coverage). I like to mix it up with my swimwear and have a little bit of everything. Then, you can always have the right suit for the right occasion. (You know, so you don't almost lost your bottoms to the carp of Lake Powell when you crash water skiing, etc.)

oh I can't wait for summer ...it's my favorite! ...I love one pieces and think they're totally sexy but they're so unflattering on me and usually aren't long enough for my torso so they ride up ..if you know what I mean ..grrr ..I so want to find a good one though. You have some cute choices here. love the last one and the little ruffles one
